Another Unqualified Resignation (UQR) Journey Ends Successfully for an AMEDD Officer

We mentioned in a post here a couple weeks ago that we expected approval on yet another UQR shortly, and happy to report that the memo of approval from HRC and then orders from USARC came in about 10 days ago. Long story short, this case illustrates how something seemingly routine and administrative in nature can get hung up for months for a variety of reasons. Having eyes on and a complete understanding the process from one level of command to the next, and a thorough understanding of the process, is not only helpful, but often essential. This was one such case, but it's not at all unique.
Our client, an Army Reserve medical officer, had completed his contractual drilling obligation back in 2022. He still had a portion of his MSO to complete, but he also had two legitimate hardships - one which arose before he submitted his request, and the other which developed while the case was being worked. Additionally, we had made contact with the subject matter experts at both USARC and HRC, all of whom weighed in that our client was and should be treated as a non-obligated asset.
Unfortunately, not everyone along the chain of command necessarily bought in! Add to that a nearly five month delay in getting the packet just out of battalion and to brigade. (To be fair, Hurricane Helene played into the delay, somewhat). Brigade moved things through smartly on up to the division level, but it was still useful to have uniform eyes - both JAG and G1 - pushing the action from the inside in order to get it to moving up to the final decision makers. And then, inexplicably, even once it was at the final levels, things stalled on this one as the calendar turned from late January to February 2025. Were it not for the intercessions of a few people in the system, who made it a point, professionally, to advocate for our client, his action might still be in limbo.
