DASEB for a request to transfer the GOMOR to my restricted portion of my AMHRR

Wed Jun 26 2019

I have never written a review but I think it is a privilege to share my experience working with COL(R) William (Bill) Meili. If you are at this point searching for a military lawyer, I imagine how confused you must be. It is difficult putting your career in the hands of someone you don’t know. I was in the same situation. As an Officer, I needed a lawyer to help me fight a GOMOR and stumbled upon COL Meili’s profile. I took the chance and made a call that has dramatically changed my situation. He is easily the most intelligent and hardworking military lawyer you’ll ever encounter. COL Meili is a professional with genuine concern for his clients. Consider this, what is the cost of a good lawyer representing you versus your entire career life on the line? I am in no way a paid spokesperson for COL William Meili. This review is written based on first-hand experience of a good lawyer.

This review is from a person who hired this attorney.

GOMOR and Army DASEB Representation

Show Cause BOI, GOMOR and Army DASEB Representation

I contacted Bill Meili over 4 years ago to represent me on a Show Cause Board of Inquiry (BOI) due to a GOMOR being permanently filed in my performance fiche. The Board voted to retain me, but my career was still in doubt because the GOMOR was still in place. Since day one, however, Mr. Meili has provided sound advice and given me hope that there is still a chance to overcome my long–ago mistake and continue my career. Bill Meili truly cares and ensures that everything is being handled fairly and with respect for the whole person concept.

Recently, The Department of the Army Suitability Evaluation Board (DASEB) gave me relief, transferring my GOMOR to my restricted fiche — again with Mr. Meili as my attorney. It has been a long journey and Mr. Meili has always been available providing sound advice and guidance. It is great to know that there is someone who I may contact if in need. He excels in his craft and genuinely cares.

The only regret I have is not contacting him earlier in the process!

Dental Officer Victorious in GOMOR and Show Cause - Board of Inquiry Action

Mr. Meili advocated wholeheartedly for my future. He prepared to engage many POCs at JAG and HRC who may have had a stake in handling my GOMOR, Show Cause-Board of Inquiry (BOI), and RILO situation. The lack of real proof and evidence to support an "alcohol-related incident" warranting a GOMOR had provided enough wiggle room for an honorable discharge. Seven months of agony awaiting what I believed to be my sealed fate finally arrived on 1 September 2016 with a discharge ETS of 14 September 2016. Perhaps a miracle worker, Mr. Meili fought tooth-and-nail to defend my good name, to justify an honorable discharge of service. During the prior seven months, he regularly reminded me to stay vigilant and non-confrontational amid a unit and higher chain of command that marked me for termination. His many years of practicing law clearly speak for themselves. If you find yourself unsure of where to go during adversarial circumstances, Mr. Meili is a terrific advocate to deliver perhaps the best outcome in your case. If your unit or colleagues tell you to simply "Go away and disappear," as if you're a leper, give Mr. Meili's office a call.

ARMY AG Officer Experience With GOMOR Appeal to DASEB

An ARMY AG Officer Speaks Out About Her Experience With a General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand (GOMOR) Appeal to DASEB

During my extensive search for an attorney I ran across several reviews for Mr. Meili from clients and peers who all had great things to say about the service he provides and his commitment to working hard for his clients.

Upon my initial contact with him I was astounded by his professionalism, personality, knowledge and confidence. He was up front and honest, and he didn't try and sell me a dream unlike many of the attorneys I had spoken with prior to him. The cost of his services was well worth the money spent; I have no regrets. I felt as though I finally had someone in my corner that was there to represent me and not my command.

In addition to other cases he was working, Mr. Meili always kept me informed on the status of my case, and I always knew when he was traveling or unavailable. My phone calls and email were never left unanswered or not returned.

Mr. Meili showed a genuine interest in getting to know who I was as an individual, what I stood for, as well as what my leadership thought about me. He constructively used this information to vigilantly construct a case that represented me well. The brief he prepared for me was very detailed and well put together. He did not rush; instead he took his time to make sure he captured all the important and relevant details while ensuring that I was involved and aware.

Mr. Meili often times provided words of encouragement and wisdom on how to deal with my situation and was never judgmental. He didn't hold back when I became doubtful of the process. He helped me to see that regardless of what I was being portrayed as in a letter of reprimand — that I was better, and had much to offer not just the military but society. I wish I had met him sooner. He is a people person, and whenever I would hang up from him or finish reading an email from him I was always put at ease. His hard work and representation helped transfer my GOMOR to my restricted AMHRR file. Although DASEB was slow to render its decision, Mr. Meili assured me that there was still room to fight, and was more than willing to help me.

It has been a blessing to meet him and I would definitely recommend his services to others in similar situations. He is great at what he does and I thank God for sending him into my life.

Successful Track Record in Appeals to DASEB

Successful Track Record in Appeals to the Department of the Army Suitability Evaluation Board

I retained Bill Meili for representation before the Department of the Army Suitability Evaluation Board (DASEB) because of his proven track record in such cases. Bill's knowledge of military law and administrative process, along with his confidence and calm trust in a proven strategy, reassured me of a positive outcome. Bill proved to be a persistent and dedicated advocate, and he made me feel like a member of the team and not just another client. Bill is a consummate professional, and I've found the work he and his firm produce exemplary. He delivered what he promised, and was always very thoughtful in explaining the different strategic options available to me throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Bill Meili and the Meili Law Firm to any service member interested in retaining the very best.

Sincerely,
Sergeant Major Steven C. Potts, U.S Army

GOMOR Rebuttal Leads to Retirement

COL (R) William Meili is an amazing human being who happens to be an attorney. His ability to engage you as a person first not only feels good, it is a most effective way to make sure he understands your particular story. In my case he called me out when I wasn't getting it, and later used that to show and tell authorities that my rehabilitation had, in fact, begun - which it had. He made me look at and address my underlying issues. Had I not done that there's no way we could have presented the favorable case we did.

Bill is that guy you want talking for you. He's very persuasive. He's able to engage a decision maker, or influencer, on a personal level and quickly transform that relationship into a positive for his client's cause. I would not be where I am today with my career ahead of me without Bill Meili.

Correcting an Injustice and Helping Preserve a Highly Capable Officer's Career

I found Mr. Meili, via an Internet search. I was looking for someone who understood military law, and his firm appeared as one of the top search results. I was really reserved about seeking legal representation again because my previous attorney left a lot to be desired. I called several other firms and was met with desensitized and money seeking attitudes which almost led me to accept my situation and to just move on with my career outside of the Reserves.

After reading Mr. Meili's profile and case studies, I decided to give him a call. Immediately his personable manner was apparent and within minutes I made the decision to have him represent me. Mr. Meili clearly explained the process necessary to clear my record of a damaging investigation and subsequent General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand. He then refocused my energies away from an intense dislike of how my military chain of command had treated me, and on to what I could expect in the nature of relief... provided I remained disciplined and followed his advice.

Mr. Meili responded promptly and thoroughly to my questions and concerns. He created a path forward for me, and once we started, my hope for a positive result never faltered. Eventually, I received positive relief. The Army transferred the reprimand and promoted me. I can now continue my career with the Army Reserves. Bill Meili's services went way beyond attaining a positive result. He became a true friend, concerned with my future and overall well-being. I highly recommend him to anyone facing a similar career ending situation.
