This case involved a veteran defense contractor and former senior military officer who had held a top level security clearance for many years. During the periodic re-investigation process our client ran into an apparently inexperienced, arguably over-zealous investigator.
Client was, is and always has been, competent, loyal, responsible and dedicated. He is not and never has been a threat to national security, and there are any number of good reasons why it is clearly in the national interest that our client be afforded continued access to sensitive information. However, our client ran up against an investigator and investigation process which seemed more adversarial than any he had previously experienced. This made him somewhat anxious and impatient, and his frustration didn't help alleviate the perceived adversarial nature of the process. It was my job as his attorney to evaluate all relevant issues in his past which might, in any way, be causing the investigative team from the agency concern.
After several frank and thorough meetings — in person and by phone — we were able to identify the root causes of any contention — real or perceived — and were then in a position to provide client with the tools, perspective and context necessary to make the interview process work in his favor.

Result:

Client's new Top Secret clearance was issued last week. (07-2018)
